Zach Mazrim - Expert review of the Delter Infusion Filter

The new Delter infusion filter is the latest in the expansion of Delter Coffee’s lineup. In this article we will take a look at what exactly it is, how it works, and what benefits or options it provides the user.

It consists of a mesh filter surrounded by a silicone ring with tabs on the underside. It is meant to serve as a replacement component for the jet seal, giving you the user more creative potential when it comes to brewing with your Delter Press.

Following the included instructions makes it effortless to replace the jet seal with the infusion filter. The silicone tabs on the bottom of the filter simplifies its removal as well if you would like to swap it out again for the jet seal. The infusion filter operates differently than the jet seal.

These features translate to several implications for the coffee enthusiast. First and foremost is that the filter creates a relatively self-regulated rate of infusion. Pouring, pressing, and percolating tests the patience of any coffee lover when they are craving a cup. The temptation to brew much faster than recommended sometimes wins out and results in under extracted, sour coffee. The infusion filter allows the user to set a timer (2:30 recommended on the recipe card) and forget it while it slowly drips through. Once the optimal brew time is reached, plunging the remaining water through the coffee bed is simple and straightforward. Using this filter gives you absolute control over your brew time without requiring specialized pouring techniques and constant attention.
